The Internet is a great way to find obscure facts. And for a lot of celebrities and public figures, their real names… the names they were born with… are long kept secrets.

Sometimes, it’s good for reporters to know that. Sometimes, it’s just fun to find out.

Check out the Famous Name Changes Web site (www.famousnamechanges.com).

The site specializes in celebrities from the entertainment, sporting and political world who dumped their old names for new ones. You can search by category and the initial of the celebrity’s last name.

Know who Anna Mae Bullock became? Tina Turner.

William Blythe? That was the given name of President Clinton… named after his father who was killed in a car accident before his birth… but later changed to that of his stepdad.

Actor Charlie Sheen… Carlos Estevez. His father Martin Sheen… real name Ramon Estevez.

Demetria Guynes? That’s Demi Moore’s real name.

Reginald Dwight?  Elton John’s real name.

And Sofia Scicolone? That’s Sophia Lore

Mr T? His real name… I always wondered… is Lawrence Turead.

The site is filled with stuff like this.

I could go on and on. But that’s what’s fun about this site. Browse away. You’ll find lots here…enough to keep you busy for a whole evening. Producers could use the site for trivia bump-ins for TV news shows. It makes interesting  column filler and background stuff for print reporters.
