Covering the 9/11 Anniversary

This might be the easiest column I have ever written. I had planned to offer links to various Web resources for covering the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. I had planned to spend some time scouring the ‘Net for useful sites journalists could use. I had planned to make it a one-stop shop for everything you’d need on this topic. But I’ve been beaten to it by someone else. 

That someone is David Shedden, Poynter’s library director, whose Links to the News is a must-bookmark column. As news happens — whether it’s the breaking or anniversary kind — Shedden compiles resources, categorizes them, and annotates them. 

For the second anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Shedden’s updated the invaluable list he’s been compiling since the day those four planes were turned into missiles. It’s an excellent first-stop if your news outlet is planning to mark the day — or even if you just want to revisit some of what happened. You will find links to print and broadcast stories, non-journalism resources, government sites, and much more.
