The Eugene Patterson Library uses new and traditional library resources to support Poynter’s mission of teaching and inspiring journalists and media leaders.

The library is named in honor of Eugene Patterson, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, former managing editor of The Washington Post, editor of the Atlanta Constitution and St. Petersburg Times, and chairman of the Poynter Institute Board of Trustees.

Founded in 1985, this journalism library contains more than 10,000 books and other materials.

The library maintains an informal and relaxed atmosphere that encourages casual browsing and reading while supporting professional and scholarly research.
