Wendy Wallace, a St. Petersburg Times veteran of almost 20 years, has joined Poynter on a part-time basis to serve as director of its high school journalism program.

Wallace also works as a copy editor at the Times helping students produce the weekly X-Team section of the paper for kids.

In her position with Poynter, Wallace will be responsible for coordinating a year-round program for high school students in the Tampa Bay area including a two-week summer boot camp, monthly follow-up meetings, and a fall writers’ workshop. In addition, she will represent Poynter at state and national scholastic journalism programs.

Wallace brings to her position at Poynter experience in many areas of the newspaper business including reporting, marketing, circulation sales, in house advertising, and copy editing.
 
She has an MBA in Marketing, a B.A. in Journalism and a B.S. in Decision Sciences/Operations and Systems Management, from Indiana University.
