While many have bemoaned the lack of Adobe Flash support on the iPad (me among them), others have taken the opportunity to highlight problems with the software. Today, Adobe is fighting back. “We are now on the verge of delivering Flash Player 10.1 for smart phones with all but one of the top manufacturers,” writes Kevin Lynch, Adobe’s chief technology officer. The player will work on a variety of mobile devices, including tablets, and “provides a competitive advantage to these devices because it will enable their customers to browse the whole Web.” Lynch also explains why he doesn’t believe HTML5 will supplant Flash as the dominant format for online video.
