The San Mateo County District Attorney has withdrawn a controversial search warrant used to seize evidence from Gizmodo editor Jason Chen during an investigation into a lost iPhone 4 prototype in April.
According to court papers, the materials seized from Chen’s home, including computers and storage devices, will be returned to him. A coalition of industry groups protested the search warrant on the grounds that it violated California’s journalist shield law.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Gizmodo has agreed to cooperate with the DA’s investigation and will voluntarily provide materials that are relevant to the case, which is continuing.
