PBS NewsHour’s Election Night coverage resulted in a surge in app downloads and mobile traffic, according to Dave Gustafson, the show’s online news and planning editor.

Gustafson, in an in-depth recap of NewsHour’s multi-platform Election Night coverage, writes that more than 8,300 people used the NewsHour app to view election news or the show’s live video stream. In addition, he writes, “Our app download traffic tripled on Election Day, and pushed us to the brink of 100,000 app users.”
