The Hearst Corporation’s Skiff division has announced a deal with Samsung to become the “preferred e-reading service partner” on the company’s mobile phones. Geoffrey A. Fowler reports in the Digits blog that “future Samsung smart phones, like the Galaxy S… will have built-in Skiff software that will enable them to view periodical and book content in a format designed for the phone’s 4-inch screen.” Skiff is also building a standalone e-reader device that it expects to launch before the end of 2010.
