Apple CEO Steve Jobs has announced a new native application for the company’s iPad device: iBooks.
Inaugural publishers for the app include Penguin, Harper Collins, Simon & Schuster, Macmillan and Hachette. According to reports in The New York Times the device will support the ePub electronic book format.
