According to reports, the first iPads have started to ship to consumers. They are supposed to be ready April 3. If you still were hoping that you could order the tablet this week and get it on Saturday, forget it. The shipping date for new orders on Apple’s Web site is now April 12. There are no confirmed (meaning accurate) reports of iPad inventory levels, so it is impossible to know if the date change is a result of high sales or just marketing. Estimates for in-store and online orders range from 250,000 to 500,000 units.
