Among News veterans, there’s a sense of pride at having fought the good fight, taken on a much bigger rival — the Miami Herald — and, most days, held their own, writes Richard Dymond. “I would say the Herald was at its best when The News was around, because The Herald had to work hard and not get beat by the little stepchild that we were,” says Pedro Gomez.
