Gomez
A new survey by Gomez, which is part of Compuware, indicates that consumers are as demanding of website performance on mobile devices as they are on desktop computers.

Gomez, a Web performance consultancy, reports that half of mobile Web users expect sites to load as quickly on their cell phones as on their home computers. And according to the survey, “When Seconds Count,” [PDF] 17 percent of users will abandon a mobile site if it does not load within five seconds.

Poor formatting, long load times and missing functionality were the three most commonly reported problems for mobile Web users. Unfortunately for mobile publishers who want to prioritize their development efforts, Gomez also found that the users are about evenly split on whether they want increased functionality or faster sites.
