Students in a Kent State computer-assisted reporting class asked members of Ohio’s congressional delegation: “Do you have just five minutes any time this week to talk about the budget deficit with a student journalist at Kent State?” In one case, a lawmaker’s press secretary didn’t respond to 11 phone calls and 5 voice mails; in another, the office didn’t respond to 13 calls and two e-mails. Some did talk, though.
