Union Leader publisher Joseph McQuaid and a photographer are in Afghanistan to report on a New Hampshire National Guard unit. McQuaid writes: “BAE Systems, Next Step Orthotics and Dean Kamen’s DEKA Research, all of which do great work with the Guard and U.S. military overall, readily agreed to help underwrite our trip.” Newspaper Guild president Bernie Lunzer says that’s “pushing the envelope of journalistic ethics.”
