Politico’s Gordon Lubold and Carol E. Lee wrote that “a beat reporter … would not risk burning bridges by publishing many of McChrystal’s remarks.” Their observation was then taken out of the story, prompting Jay Rosen to ask: “What grounds could the Politico possibly have for redacting its own reporters’ work? …My guess would be that other beat reporters complained to the bosses and said, this makes us look bad.” || UPDATE: That’s wrong, according to Politico’s managing editor.
