He also tells Conor Friedersdorf: “I did have one fellow say he figured I was Jewish ‘since The Times is a Jewish paper.’ I wasn’t sure what he meant by that, but the funny thing is he didn’t mean it as an insult, and he was happy to talk. He was a Southern Baptist missionary, by the way.”
