We welcome your ideas for How To’s. Here are a few things to consider as you make suggestions:

  • The How To’s on Poynter.org are practical, instructional pieces that focus on one of the following topics: newsgathering & storytelling; digital strategies; community engagement; and leadership & management. In many cases, the How To’s are tied to recent news.
  • We publish both original and curated content in the How-To section. This means you can suggest an original idea or send us a link to a published How To that you think would be good to highlight. (Here’s an example of a curated How To.)
  • If you’d like to write a How To, please send us a few sentences describing your idea and what you think journalists can learn from it. We will consider and respond to every pitch.

If you have feedback about the section or suggestions on how to improve it, please feel free to share your thoughts with us.

We look forward to hearing from you.
