Daily Mail lifts photos from The Batavian – again

The Batavian’s Howard Owens says the U.K.-based Daily Mail has again used one of his photos without permission. “Why is that @mailonline folks think that the theft of copyrighted material is ethical and acceptable?” he tweeted. (He also found his photo on Barstool Sports Boston and Artvoice, although Artvoice removed it.) Earlier this month, after a blogger in the U.K. complained that the Daily Mail used her photos — also without permission — of a too-skinny mannequin, Owens said he had complained about something similar happening to him. “The editors did not ask permission and I got no compensation,” he told Poynter.org. “They ignored my e-mails and I couldn’t get through on the phone.” I sought a response when I wrote about this before; I’ll do so again.  || Earlier: Daily Mail uses blogger’s photos after she denies them permission; Editor says it was an error and offers to pay for them | BBC News editor says site may use social media photos without permission ‘in exceptional situations’
