Jeff Bercovici writes that Facebook is working with about a dozen news outlets on app versions of their content “that can be read and consumed right there on Facebook.” He writes that CNN, The Washington Post and The Daily are partners, but not The New York Times, apparently because of questions about how a Facebook edition would fit into its paid content strategy. The first editions are to come out this year. Google is working on a similar effort, he’s told.
