“It is always interesting to be on the other side of the news,” Fort Myers News-Press editor Terry Eberle writes after a TV station questioned Lee County’s $105,000 job-creation incentive to Gannett — the News-Press parent that eliminated 14 jobs last week. “The incentives were to be used for [digital division] startup costs like desks, computers, software, etc.,” writes Eberle. “None of the money has gone or will go for salaries.”
