High school journalists find expired meds in NY stores

High school students in the Princeton University Summer Journalism Program visited more than 20 New York stores — including CVS, Duane Reade, Rite Aid and Walgreens — and found that they’re stocking and selling expired over-the-counter medications. The teen journalists note: “New York law prohibits the sale of any over-the-counter medications after the date ‘marked upon the label as indicative of the date beyond which the contents cannot be expected beyond reasonable doubt to be safe and effective.’” Last summer, students in program investigated cabs and buses that violate New York’s anti-idling laws. || Read this year’s Princeton Summer Journal [PDF].
