In this week’s career chat, we talked with Charles Apple, a freelance visual journalist and instructor whose blog appears on the American Copy Editors Society’s site. Formerly, Apple was graphics director of the Virginian-Pilot and the Des Moines Register.

Apple talked about how journalists — of every kind — can use visuals to spruce up their applications and resumes online and on paper. We talked about hard-copy, digital portfolios and skill sets, and included some examples of mistakes to avoid.

You can revisit this page at any time to replay the chat.
