In a live chat with Reuters’ Jack Shafer, Craig Silverman shared his thoughts on what the Error of the Year should be and took suggestions from the audience. Silverman, who is bringing his Regret the Error blog to Poynter.org, writes a “Year in Media Errors and Corrections” feature annually.

During the chat, Silverman and Shafer talked about the types of errors journalists have made this year, why we make certain errors, what we can do to prevent them, and what we can learn from lists that highlight errors.
