Letter to Newsday staff

Dear Fellow Employee,

On the morning of Monday, March 21, we will unveil the very first edition of the new Newsday! The fresh look of our cover is just the beginning of many new additions and features, all designed to give our readers more of the information they need, while making it easier to find the news that matters most to them.

In fact, we will be adding more than 2,600 pages of useful content annually! As you read through the paper, you will begin to see these new pages and content, organized more logically to improve our readers’ experience. These additions include:

* Four more pages of Long Island coverage every day
* An expanded daily Business section
* More of the NYC news that is important to Long Islanders
* A larger Op-Ed section, with more letters and different voices
* Two additional pages in Sunday’s LI Life to help families plan their week ahead

We’ve listened to our readers’ suggestions to make sure the new Newsday is designed with them in mind. These changes represent the significant investment that we continue to make by adding more journalists, more news pages and stronger coverage for all Long Islanders. And as you may have already noticed, this year we have also rolled out an aggressive and creative marketing effort using print, TV, radio, the Internet and direct mail to ensure our readers and prospective readers are aware of the value Newsday provides.

I’m looking forward to March 21 as we introduce the new Newsday and continue our commitment to being the indispensable source of news and information for Long Island, every day.

Sincerely,

Fred Groser
