A Times spokeswoman says via email: “Looking at traffic between 10 p.m. last night and 2 p.m. today, we have seen an incredible increase in page views. Page views during that time were 86 percent higher than the average page views received during a comparable period in the last four Mondays.” || CNN.com reports that between Sunday evening — when news broke about Osama bin Laden’s death — through 1 p.m. today, its website has generated 88 million global page views. That’s a 217 percent gain over the prior 4-week average for the same time period, reports the network.
The National Journal’s Dave Beard reports on his site‘s traffic:

Thanks for your hard work on bin Laden story. Journalists at other organizations have steadily told us how impressed they are with the depth and breadth of our stories, video and still images.
Readers have read more than 1.5 million pageviews so far today. That’s more than triple our previous record for an entire day and nearly one third of the traffic we got during the whole of a record-smashing April.
Of note: We’re on track this hour alone for more than 500,000 pages read – and many of those people are coming to our site directly, a cheering note as we build on this bump.
