Chicago Tribune
“Playboy has no immediate plans to move to Los Angeles,” the magazine’s PR woman said after Jimmy Jellinek wrote on Facebook that he’s leaving Chicago for Los Angeles. (The editorial director says relocation is “inevitable,” though.) Jellinek will be visiting the headquarters “on a regular basis.” || Read Jellinek’s memo after the jump.

Hey everybody,

I wanted to make an official announcement for what is probably the worst kept secret in the office. In August I will be relocating with my family to Los Angeles and working out of the Studio West. God help Steve Randall who will kill in a matter of days after my arrival. That said I know how difficult these past few months have been with the company and how crushing the uncertainty has been. Thus I want to be clear that at this moment no definite plans have been made to relocate the rest of editorial. That we will be in Los Angeles in [sic] inevitable. When and what that time table will be I do not know but will endeavour to give you as much information as possible as it becomes available. For the forseeable future starting in august I will commuting back and forth between chicago and la and you will probably see more of me than you do now. Communication is key and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions and concerns and I will do my best to answer them.
