William Osgood Taylor II was the fourth in his family to run the Boston Globe; he held the publisher title for 19 years. “Bill will long be remembered for his forward-looking leadership that positioned the Globe as a beacon of integrity in the world of journalism,” says New York Times Co. chairman Arthur Sulzberger Jr.. Taylor was diagnosed in spring 2009 with a brain tumor. His father, William D. Taylor — Globe publisher for 22 years — died in 2002 at 93.
