INTRODUCING TIME TUMBLRS
Today, TIME is launching two blogs on the social networking site, Tumblr. The first is a shorter, more social version of our first-rate photo blog, LightBox. Because of Tumblr’s strong artistic user base and its natural visual appeal, LightBox will no doubt prove to be an effortless fit (and frontrunner) in the Tumblr community. Find it here.
The second is a project we hope to make a pet favorite of all of TIME’s staff. Since 1923 we’ve reported on world events and helped to create the first draft of history. And somewhere along the way, TIME has become a part of history, too. TIME on Tumblr aims to be a digital scrapbook of this institution’s vintage work, its indelible cultural influence and our own anecdotes on the work we do. Social media producer Allie Townsend is surfacing our archives with this project, but she’s also looking for the back stories that accompany them.
This is where you come in. If you stumble across an interesting piece of TIME history, see TIME referenced in a new book or film, or care to share your own amusing or harrowing tale of writing or shooting a TIME story, please e-mail Allie at [redacted].
