The Post says @innovations is about what’s happening at the Washington Post and journalism in general. “It will experiment and be transparent throughout the process, posting explainers about new digital features and asking readers for new ideas,” says a release, which is posted after the jump.

Press release

Today The Washington Post launches “@innovations,” its official blog powered by Tumblr: http://on.washingtonpost.com/

@innovations is about what’s happening at The Washington Post and journalism in general. It will experiment and be transparent throughout the process, posting explainers about new digital features and asking readers for new ideas.

Although the blog looks and feels like it’s on washingtonpost.com, it’s powered by Tumblr to allow us to be a part of the Tumblr community, following readers and allowing others to follow The Post.

Check out The Post’s latest project on @innovations: Photocasting the recession. Post photographer Michael Williamson is teaming up with Intersect to capture what the economy looks like beyond the Beltway through crowdsourcing and smart phones. You can view the full project at http://wapo.st/onrecessionroad.

And be sure to follow @innovations as they had to SXSW Interactive!
