Jay Carney was a New Journal writer and editor at Yale — “a very serious guy about his work,” recalls college pal Richard Bradley. “He’s a Derek Jeter type — someone with a lot of skills that makes it look easy.” Unlike many of the other writers at the Yale magazine, Carney wasn’t particularly idiosyncratic or eccentric, Bradley tells the Yale Daily News. Carney declined to talk to the paper.
