Some Conde Nast magazines shed staffers this week. Self and Brides were among the hardest-hit titles. Erik Maza reports cuts at Brides went down in rather grisly manner:
Brides let go about five staffers on the editorial side, though some have been asked to work part time. Some have not been informed because they were attending bridal shows taking place this week.
Brides recently named Keija Minor its editor-in-chief. Self magazine lost eight editorial staffers Tuesday, Keith Kelly reports.
Three other magazines lost a staffer apiece, and VP for Media Relations Susan Portnoy lost her job as well. All Conde titles have been ordered to cut costs, Kelly reported Oct. 4. There were also cuts at Fairchild Fashion Media, the company’s trade business, Joe Pompeo reports.
Conde Nast is owned by Advance Publications, Inc., whose newspaper division has announced or implemented cuts to staff and print frequency in several markets this year, including New Orleans, Harrisburg, Pa., Syracuse, N.Y., and several cities in Alabama.
