An equal percentage of people polled — 46 percent — think coverage of President Obama and Mitt Romney has been fair. That’s a plurality, but 60 percent overall thought both Obama and John McCain were treated fairly during the 2008 campaign.
Only 38 percent of Republicans think Romney is getting a fair shake. In 2008, 48 percent of Republicans thought John McCain was treated fairly.
Meanwhile, 57 percent of Democrats think Romney’s being treated fairly, not far from the percentage who think Obama is: 62 percent.
Last week, Gallup reported nearly 60 percent of people it polled don’t trust the media, the largest percentage since it began asking the question regularly in the ’90s. Increasing distrust among Republicans and independents have been driving that number up, Gallup reported.
