Penn State freshmen Jessica Knoll of Lebanon, Pa., wipes a tear from her eye as she listens to the televised news conference held by former FBI director Louis Freeh after the release of his report on the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal in the student HUB on main campus in State College, Pa., Thursday, July 12, 2012. Penn State freshman Jessica Knoll did not know she would be on the front page of her state’s newspapers Friday morning. But she appeared on at least seven, wiping away the tears that fell as she learned Thursday about the Freeh report on her school’s handling of sex abuse allegations against Jerry Sandusky. Knoll, whose photo was captured for the Associated Press by Gene J. Puskar, told the Pulitzer Prize-winning Patriot-News that Joe Paterno’s role in the cover-up “really, really devastates me. I looked up to him so much and I don’t really know what to think. And I’m sad because one of my role models turned out to be someone that could have done more. I’m sad for the victims. … It’s just really, really emotional.” || The front pages below all appear courtesy of the Newseum; some have been cropped. | Related: How Open Records law would have stopped sex abuse sooner at Penn State | Pennsylvania’s front pages pay tribute to Joe Paterno
