Peter Kafka reports that Gannett has bought Fantasy Sports Ventures, which runs the sports news site Big Lead Sports. Gannett says that when it combines the new sites with others within the USA Today Sports Media Group, it will have one of top five sports sites. On the other side of the digital divide, Jim Hopkins writes that a new memo refers to a “new business model rollout” for Gannett’s weak community newspapers group. “It comes as [Gannett] continues to battle declines in its chief source of revenue, newspaper advertising — a falloff that will be evident again when Corporate is set to announce fourth-quarter and full-year financial results Monday morning.”
