The maker of the Hipstamatic iPhone photography app is launching a foundation to train and support future photojournalists. The Hipstamatic Foundation for Photojournalism will fund training for journalists on how to shoot with a smartphone, particularly in foreign reporting and combat zones, The British Journal of Photography reports.
The foundation will be funded by the sale of a special HipstaPack with a digital lens and film filter designed for journalists. The lens will apply “minimal processing and would fit the ethical constraints of newspaper and magazine news photography.”
