Times-Picayune staffers were supposed to learn on Monday and Tuesday whether they’ll have jobs — and what they’ll be — after the paper cuts its staff and publishes just three days a week. Those meetings have been postponed indefinitely, though.
The meetings, according to Gambit’s Kevin Allman, would have coincided with a “Save the Picayune” rally.
On Friday, staffers sent a memo to editors with questions they want answered, such as whether any bureaus will remain open, how news coverage fits into NOLA Media Group’s strategy, and what will happen to the graphics and photography departments. Times-Picayune Editor Jim Amoss has said that after staff cuts, the paper’s reporting staff will be “at least comparable.”
