Design and usability guru Jakob Nielsen predicts the new iPad’s high-resolution screen will make it the preferred device for consuming content. “It’s currently the only computer that makes it reasonably pleasant to read text,” he writes. “In other words, people with both a desktop computer and an iPad 3 will tend to prefer reading from the tablet.”
That is, if publishers take advantage of the high-resolution display. Folio has a detailed interview with the publisher of The Daily about how the iPad newspaper was optimized for the new device. But New York Times Bits blogger Brian Chen points out that while iPad apps upgrade resolution, websites may continue to look blurry for some time.
