Athens Banner-Herald | The Smoking Gun
Lonneshia Shafaye Appling allegedly pepper-sprayed Piggly Wiggly employees on May 23 after they attempted to detain her on suspicion of shoplifting, among other items, eight cans of Coors Light and five packages of bacon. Appling, Joe Johnson writes in the Athens (Ga.) Banner-Herald, “asked the arresting officer to write his report in a way that it would be ‘more interesting so that her arrest would make the police blotter’ in the local newspaper.” Appling is also accused of punching and spitting at one worker.

Mission accomplished! The Smoking Gun has the entire police report, written by Officer Nathaniel B. Franco, who took Appling into custody. Do yourself a favor and don’t read the comments.

Appling, Johnson writes, “has a flair for the spectacular, as evidenced by a performance she gave when arrested in January for shoplifting at an Ingles in Madison County.”

The Madison County Journal reported that when the officer tried to take Appling into custody, she began taking her clothes off and told the officer to lick her because she had AIDS.

As the officer struggled to cuff the large woman, the Journal reported, Appling continued to strip until she was completely naked. She broke free from the officer, who subdued her with a Taser.
