Staff at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch received this short email from Editor Gilbert Bailon midday Friday:
We regret to announce that economic conditions caused the Post-Dispatch to lay off 13 newsroom employees, four editors and nine members of the Guild. The layoffs have ended.

Total, the Post-Dispatch laid off 23, it said in a story Friday afternoon. Friday morning, Jim Romenesko reported that four news managers had been laid off Thursday night.
