Rob Lowe stars in a new film about spin and political campaigns, “Knife Fight,” which debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival this week. The trailer for the movie, which describes itself as “cleverly incorporating the always-on news cycle into this political story for the new century,” features front pages from Politico (“Herman Cain Accused of Inappropriate Behavior”), the New York Daily News (“Strauss-Kahn Le Perv”), the New York Post (“Weiner Exposed”), LA Times (“Schwarzenegger Fathered a Child”), The Sun (“Berlusconi Bunga Bunga!”), The New York Times and The Huffington Post (“Larry Craig’s Wide Stance”). The other notable journalism moment in the trailer:

Lowe: “Bloggers, I hear that you two are Kentucky’s answer to Woodward and Bernstein.”

Bloggers: “Who?”

Lowe: “Never mind.”

Bloggers, speaking for Woodward and Bernstein, the feeling is mutual. Lowe’s “West Wing” co-star Richard Schiff is also in the movie, which was written and produced by Chris Lehane, who worked for Bill Clinton’s campaign and White House. “I love that authenticity,” Lowe said at the festival.
