Seventy-six percent of articles about the GOP primary and 72 percent of articles about the presidential campaign were written by men, according to a press release from the Women’s Media Center. The Fourth Estate compiled the data, which I can’t find online yet, but this graphic from that group shows similarly dismal numbers among major outlets quoting women in coverage of issues like abortion, women’s rights and birth control.
The press release refers to ASNE’s diversity studies, which show that men account for about 63 percent of newsroom employees.
