The Omaha World-Herald Co. is buying the Waco Tribune-Herald, its second recent acquisition in Texas, reports Steve Jordon:
The Tribune-Herald circulates 34,000 copies daily and 39,000 on Sundays in the Waco area. Terry Kroeger, CEO of the World-Herald, said Waco is “a very strong, growing market with terrific assets, including Baylor University and the new research park.”
A year ago, Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway owned just The Buffalo News. He acquired The Omaha World-Herald and its associated properties in December. Since then he’s been on a spending spree: a bunch of papers from Media General, then the paper in College Station, and now Waco. He’ll own 89 papers after the latest deal closes July 31.
