Winston Churchill’s “gilded trench whistle” was really a rattle:

A picture caption on March 4 with an article about a new book on Winston Churchill, “Churchill Style,” by Barry Singer, using information from his publisher, misidentified one of the items shown among Churchill’s personal effects. It is a baby rattle, not a gilded trench whistle.
