WSB-TV | The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

WSB-TV assignment editor Lacey LeCroy took a call Tuesday from an employee of Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy in Decatur, Ga. The female employee told LeCroy that a gunman was in the school and he wanted WSB to send a crew. LeCroy says when she asked the employee why the man wanted her to call the station, the employee told her that “he wanted us to start filming as police died.”

No one was injured in the shooting. Police arrested a 25-year-old man.

The worker kept the line open, LeCroy told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“For a long time, there was nothing from her,” LeCroy said.

Then, LeCroy heard gunshots. She stayed on line for about five minutes until she heard the school worker’s voice again.

“They got him. They got him,” the school worker told LeCroy.

“I was so worried for her,” LeCroy said.
