The Scotsman made a timely retraction in the print edition of Wednesday’s paper. The story begins with news Wednesday that former Dundee United captain Jon Daly will become the first Irish Catholic to play for the Rangers football club.

A story that originally ran on March 29 suggested former Rangers player Alex Stevenson had received “grief” for being from the Republic of Ireland. Thanks to Twitter user @JohnDCGow for sharing an image showing the retraction — efforts to find the correction on The Scotsman’s website have been unsuccessful, though a reader comment on the March post makes reference to it.

It’s worth noting another error that wasn’t caught until after a post to the site today announcing the completion of the deal bringing Daly to the Rangers — Daly’s name was spelled John, instead of Jon. That error still appears in the March 29 article, though the spelling in the photo caption is correct.

Correction: Alex Stevenson’s name was originally incorrectly included in the post as Alex Ferguson.
