Rem Rieder, American Journalism Review’s Editor, will become USA Today’s media editor, the company announced today: “Rem’s role will include working with media columnists such as Michael Wolff, and USA TODAY reporters across the country,” USA Today Editor-in-Chief David Callaway says in the release. “He will continue writing his column as well.”

“I’ve had a fantastic run at AJR,” Rieder says in an email to Poynter. “It’s been extremely gratifying. But after 21-and-a-half years, I’m excited about the idea of another adventure, particularly this one.”

Before AJR, Rieder worked at The Washington Post, The Miami Herald and The Philadelphia Inquirer, among other outlets.

Jim Romenesko has Callaway’s memo to staffers: Rieder “brings us a combination of traditional media sensibilities and new media entrepreneurship that will help us develop our media coverage across all our beats and all of our platforms,” Callaway wrote.
