C-Ville Weekly in Charlottesville, Va., will change its policy about printing comments from readers, WVIR-TV reports. It ran a transcribed voicemail in a section called “The Rant” that included a message from someone complaining that blacks want free food from restaurants. The section — which features published anonymous voicemails — does not appear to be online, but you can see a picture of the page in this Blaze story.
Some people protested outside the paper’s offices Monday. C-Ville Editor-in-Chief Giles Morris apologized in a comment, saying the paper’s decision to run the transcript “was a mistake and there’s no excuse for it.”
Morris tells WVIR the paper “is starting a new policy that sexist, racist, or hate rants will not run in the paper.”
