Andy Carvin will join the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia Journalism School as a fellow.
Tow published the news on Wednesday morning, then unpublished it, but not before Google picked it up and sent it out in Google alerts (that’s how we found out.)
Carvin confirmed the news Wednesday on his blog.
I’m very pleased to announce the first half of that goal: I’m joining the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia University’s Journalism School as a nonresident fellow.
What exactly does that mean? For one thing I’ll get to spend time with some of the brightest journalism students and professors in the country, not to mention the amazing fellows who are already part of the program.
Carvin formerly worked as a senior strategist for NPR and was offered a buyout in November. His last day was December 27, which Carvin wrote about on his blog.
I’ve had an incredible run at NPR, but now it’s time for that run to end. I’m still working on what I’ll do next. For one thing, I hope to chill for a bit, hang out with my family and our menagerie of pets, and enjoy some time off. I’m working on some short-term plans while I try to map out longer-term opportunities. I wish I could say more, but I promise you’ll be among the first to know.
