Capital New York

Dashiell Bennett has been named editor of The Wire, Capital New York’s Joe Pompeo reports. Bennett was previously news editor.

The Atlantic Media news aggregator’s former editor, Gabriel Snyder, left for Inside.com five months ago before hopping to Bloomberg in March.

Last week, Columbia Journalism Review reported that “The Atlantic’s army of young aggregators is directionless” without an editor, leaving “confusion as to whether The Wire, once established as a contemporary take on the staid newswire, has lost favor within the company.”

Formerly called The Atlantic Wire, it rebranded and launched a new responsive website last November.
