George Norcross, who lost a bid for The Philadelphia Inquirer in May, appears to be behind Philly Voice, a site that bills itself as “your essential source for news, sports and culture.”
The domain was registered in August by “one of Norcross’ South Jersey companies,” Philadelphia Magazine’s Victor Fiorillo reports.
Philly Voice has hired a few Philadelphia Inquirer alumni, including former Philly.com executive producers Robert McGovern, Leah Kauffman and Matt Romanoski.

The latest venture comes months after Norcross lost a public tug-of-war for The Inquirer to co-owners Lewis Katz and H.F. “Gerry” Lenfest, ending months of back-and-forth litigation.
Philly Voice is hiring for several positions, including a managing editor and two Web curators.
